Marli Huijer is Professor Emeritus of Public Philosophy at the Erasmus School of Philosophy, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Chair of the Dutch Month of Philosophy and columnist of daily newspaper Trouw. Huijer studied Philosophy and Medicine (University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit). She obtained a doctorate in Philosophy in 1996, with a dissertation on Aids and Michel Foucault’s aesthetics of existence. From 2015 to 2017, she was Thinker Laureate of the Netherlands.
