Marli Huijer, philosopher and medical doctor, was Thinker Laureate of the Netherlands from 2015 to 2017. One of her goals as Thinker Laureate was to let the voices of a diversity of people be heard. In this book Peter Henk Steenhuis interviews Huijer. He asks her about her inspiration Hannah Arendt, her change in career (from doctor to philosopher), how we should behave towards each other, how to discipline yourself, Simone de Beauvoir and Martha Nussbaum, how to deal with disappointments, etcetera. An answer that Huijer keeps on referring to, the importance of speaking your mind. Life is a lot more fun when you don't shut up.
