MATZER Theater Productions inspiration morning with Lot Vekemans and Marli Huijer

Inspirational morning with Lot Vekemans and Marli Huijer
On Sunday, May 3rd, MATZER Theater Productions is organizing a new edition of MATZER on Sunday at the Verkadefabriek. An inspiring morning with breakfast, during which we reflect on the perspective of those left behind – the people who remain where they were born and help shape their environment.

A new theater project in the making
During the start of the writing phase of her new play for MATZER, homemaker Lot Vekemans will be in conversation with philosopher Marli Huijer. Her book "Achterblijven" (2016) is a key source of inspiration for the new play. In "Achterblijven," Huijer traces the changing role of those left behind in Europe throughout the centuries: from guardian of culture and community to someone who must simultaneously preserve and make room for the new. What does it mean to stay in a time when farewell seems less definitive, but not everyone is free to leave?
This (Sunday) morning marks the beginning of a longer journey. Throughout this year, Lot is researching the themes of staying behind and being at home. She will take the audience on this journey to the final performance in several sessions.

Musical reflection
Musicians Helge Slikker, Tim Klaase, and Ramon Lormans will provide an atmospheric musical reflection with several songs that resonate with the theme in a different way.
